Hey guys, this is Kevin from jaztime.com, and today we'll be reviewing the Rolex Datejust 41, reference number 126300. We'll be going over the price, the dial, bezel, case, crown, bracelet, clasp. And we'll talk about the movement towards the end of the video. Okay, so for the pricing as of December 2017 you can get this from an authorized Rolex retailer for $7,350 for the Oyster style bracelet. And at jaztime.come you can get it for as low as $6,650. One thing I just want to quickly show you, this is the Jubilee bracelet version of the same watch. So for the Jubilee, you're looking at $100 additional on the retail pricing, for $7,450 at your authorized dealer. At jaztime.com you're looking at a similar pricing, mainly because the Jubilee version is harder to get, and I'll explain why later. Okay, so for the dials, the dial configuration I have on myis a silver dial with index hour markers. And index hour markers are fashioned in 18 carat white gold to prevent any tarnishing. The hour markers themselves do glow in the dark via a highly legible Chromalight display with long-lasting blue luminescence, so there's easier readability at night. And the hands are in the same situation, also made of 18 carat white gold with the Chromalight display on the tips of the hands. Now, I did mention that this is a silver dial. The Datejust always known for having additional dial colors, or multiple dial colors. You're looking at, also, other dial colors you can receive this watch in is white, black, blue, and rhodium. And the rhodium itself is sort of a darker, grayer color than this silver. Okay, besides that Datejust always follows a very simple dial architecture where we have the hour markers. The Rolex crown at the 12:00 position, which is the Rolex crown logo. The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust name right underneath that in the paragraph below. We have the date window at the 3:00 position. That has a cyclops lens on top, that's sapphire crystal. That provides magnification of that date, so it's easier readability of the date as well. Okay, moving on to the bezel now. The bezel is just very simple. A fixed position, smooth, high-polish bezel. Because this is a dress watch it matches very nicely with the casing. The case lugs are high-polish as well. Usually, for sports watches there's a nice sand finish or brush deal. But since this is more of a dress watch, we have that nice high-polished lugs on the top and the bottom of the case. The case has itself, as the name suggests, it's a Datejust 41, so it's a 41 millimeter case from my index finger to my thumb here. That's 41 millimeters in diameter. One thing I mention that this is, the Datejust 41, is a successor to the Datejust 2 which had a thicker lugs, and also a thicker case. But now the Datejust 41 sort of streamlines that, and we have a nice thinner lugs, thinner case as well. It fits under suit cuffs, dress cuffs very nicely. Okay, moving on to the crown now. The crown is a screw down to unlock double waterproofing system. Dial it down the lines counterclockwise as shown. In its first position, that's the standard position, you can wind the watch going clockwise. And you can wind the watch from a dead stop about 15 to 20 clockwise winds is all you need to get the watches started once more. A simple tug of the crown will allow you to adjust the day, or change the date instantaneously, just going clockwise as shown. Then, the final position lets you pull out the crown. The second hand, keep your eye on that, will stop. And that allows for precise time setting, such as doing the time of the clock online. You can set the time down to the exact seconds. And in this position you can also set the hands bidirectionally. Okay, always make sure to press the crown in against the case to start the seconds hand once more. Press it in, and screw it down nice and tight against the case because you want to protect your watch, and keep it water-resistant for up to 100 meters or 330 feet. All right, moving on to the bracelet now. So I mentioned before with the Jubilee bracelet that it is much harder to get, and the reason behind that is that they just actually didn't used to come in a Jubilee bracelet. It used to come in an Oyster style bracelet just like this, with nice three-piece links, sand finish brush deal on the outer of the three-piece links, contrasting with the beautiful high polish down the center. That patterns very nicely through the clasp, and onto the other side of the bracelet as shown. So the jubilee style bracelet is new, it's new to this model, and that's why it's in higher demand as well. Okay, all right, so I'm actually gonna go ahead and move on to the clasp now. The clasp, very simple folding oyster clasp. Opens up to reveal the nice lit, high polish clasp plate with the Rolex name embossed onto the clasp plate itself. One thing to mention about the clasp in the back, it has one simple function, and that's an easy extension link, or rather the comfort extension link, as Rolex likes to call it. And what it allows for you to do is you can adjust the bracelet inward or outward five millimeter increments. That's more of a quality of life insuring. Which on a hot summer day your wrist swells up a little bit, and you want to give a little more breathability to your wrist you can go ahead and adjust that bracelet outward the five millimeters, and give yourself a little more breathing room on your wrist. And vice versa for colder days. Okay, moving on to the movement now, which is another one of the big changes from this watch from the Datejust 2 is that, well, for the specific movement in the watch it is the Rolex'smade calibur 3235 movement. It's a preventional, mechanical, self-winding movement that has a precision of minus -2/+2 seconds a day. However, the movement has been updated from the 3135 and is based off the 3255 movement, which is the day-date president movement of Rolex's flagship model. What they upgraded from the 3135 to the 3235 is that they've added a skeletonized escapement wheel that is made up of nickel phosphorous. The skeletonization reduces the inertia so it has more accurate timekeeping. Whereas the nickel phosphorous adds additional resistance against magnetism. And that's paired with the oscillator, which is a paramagnetic blue parachrom hairspring, which also has additional magnetism resistance. Another thing is that the power reserve has been upgraded. It used to be a 48 hour power reserve. Now we're looking at a 70 hour power reserve. So for example, you could put this watch down on your Friday evening, pick it back up on a Monday afternoon, and it'll still be keeping time just fine. Okay, so I'm gonna actually go ahead and show you this watch on my wrist now. So from the folding oyster clasp, opens up, closes in, and there we are.
